Run your microschool.
One operator. Up to 30 students. An AI copilot.
Your school, your brand, your tuition, your venue. Your students enroll through Basecamp Online as students of our private school. We carry the school-of-record duties, and the platform’s agentic AI drafts modules, reads submissions, and pre-fills grades so one operator can do the work of a small team. You approve every AI output before it reaches your students. Flat fees. No royalty. Not a franchise.
How it fits together

Parents
Pay you your tuition, at the price you set. Separately, each family enrolls with Basecamp Online on the Family Plan ($95/mo first student, $50/mo each additional, up to 5), which makes us their school of record.

You, the operator
Run “Cedar Grove Microschool,” or whatever you name it. Your business, your tuition, your schedule, your venue. You buy packages and services from us; we never take a cut of your tuition.

Basecamp
School of record for your students: enrollment, attendance register, records, transcripts, annual testing. Plus the platform and the operator packages.
We prescribe no tuition, no territory, no hours, and no marketing plan. The school-of-record duties we apply uniformly are owed to your students, not control of your business. You may say, factually, that your students are “enrolled through Basecamp Online”; the school operates under your name, not ours.
One operator can run 30 students because the AI does the drafting.
Every AI capability on this platform is built to compound your time, not replace your judgement. You still approve every module, every grade, every syllabus. You stay the teacher, completely in the loop. The AI is a Socratic partner for your students and a paperwork engine for you.
Teacher assistant
Agentic chat that can list courses, add modules, read submissions, and pre-fill grades, all via tool calls that run under your session. Every action logged. It can never do anything you couldn’t do yourself.
Module + syllabus generator
Ship a new module in five minutes: give a topic, the AI drafts instructions + rubric + starter files. Draft a family-facing syllabus from your Course of Study for enrolment week. Nothing publishes without you.
Two-lane grading pipeline
Students get instant, ungraded feedback the moment they submit, so no more “did my teacher see my work yet?” You get a rubric-aligned draft grade queued, with the score pre-filled. Review, edit, save. Grade 20 submissions in the time it used to take to grade 5.
The packages
Everything except the Launch Package is optional. Each is priced as what it is (training, software, curriculum, hardware), not as a right to operate.

Each family enrolls on the Family Plan ($95/mo first student, $50/mo each additional, up to 5), paid by their family, not by you. Your microschool tenant is capped at 30 students on the Operator Plan; contact us for larger cohorts. Reference configuration: 8 students, 3 days/week. Small enough for a living room or a rented room, big enough to matter economically.
What we’ll expect of you (the honest section)
Instructing children who are not your own changes the legal duties versus teaching your own kids at home. We handle the routing and record-keeping; you meet the requirements. Here they are, up front.
Fingerprinting
DOJ/FBI Live Scan required (Education Code § 44237) before your first day. The parent exemption does not apply when you instruct other people's children. The Launch Package routes it for you.
Mandated reporter + abuse prevention
AB 506 / Business & Professions Code § 18975 training and policy acknowledgment.
TB clearance
Per private-school staff practice.
Faculty roster
You are listed on the school's Education Code § 33190(d) faculty roster for your cohort.
Immunization: the load-bearing question
Track A (default): your group meets ≤ 2 days/week and the parent remains the primary instructor of record. This is designed to keep students non-classroom-based, so home-based immunization exemption applies. Track B: 3 to 5 days/week, classroom-based. Immunization records are required (Health & Safety Code § 120335) and collected through the platform's enrollment workflow.
Venue
Your responsibility: zoning, occupancy, insurance (general liability naming Basecamp as additional insured). The Launch Package checklist walks you through it, and our coworking partnership program can source vetted venues at education-resident day rates.
What the numbers can look like
Illustrative only. You set your own tuition, and your results depend on your enrollment, pricing, and costs. Observed market tuition for 3-day microschools runs about $400 to $600 per student per month. Here’s the reference case at $450 over a 10-month instruction year, 8 students, 3 days a week:
For a one-child family, the reference case works out to $545/month all-in ($450 to you + $95 to Basecamp Family Plan) for a 3-day microschool. Multi-child families come out ahead: the second sibling adds $50/mo to the Basecamp side instead of another $95.
| Tuition revenue (8 students × $450 × 10 months) | $36,000 |
| Venue ($600/mo × 10) | −$6,000 |
| Materials + insurance | −$2,400 |
| Expedition Curriculum Pack (8 × $250) | −$2,000 |
| Operator Plan ($195 × 12) | −$2,340 |
| Operator net, steady year | $23,260 |
| Launch-year one-time (Launch Package + STEM Lab Kit) | −$4,400 |
| Operator net, launch year | $18,860 |
Illustration, not a projection or promise of earnings. Your tuition, enrollment, and costs are yours to set and manage.
Why this is not a franchise, on purpose
No trademark license
Your microschool operates under your own name. Never “Basecamp Microschool.”
No control of your business
No prescribed tuition, territory, hours, or marketing plan. Compliance items are duties we owe your students as their school of record, applied the same to everyone.
No royalty
You pay flat package fees for real training, software, curriculum, and hardware. Never a percentage of your tuition.
